Limelight On Africa
If you have been following the news and events lately, you will notice how a lot of sources are naming the African continent as the new investment hot spot. One of the main reasons being that a lot of the economies there have not been largely affected by the current global crisis. If anything, some of them have actually flourished amidst the torrents of the financial turmoil. There has been a noticeably strong Chinese presence in a few countries like The Sudan, Kenya and Congo to name a few which undoubtley boast of vast reserves of natural resources that are largely unexplored.
There have been a myriad of debates by different groups including me and a few of my friends about what this means for these countries being invested in and the continent as a whole regarding the cost of investments. "What measures have both the investing nations and the recepients put in place to ensure that the interests of both parties are being protected?," is one of the main subjects of these discussions.
